Raini Patteson

My path to environmental management has not been linear, beginning with oceanography and climate research during my master’s program, moving through soils and agriculture in my undergraduate studies, and ultimately focusing on the forests of California while working for local nonprofits as a project manager. Over six years in the central-southern Sierra Nevada, I’ve partnered with communities to navigate environmental hazards and plan for resilience. I’m motivated by protecting ecosystems for their intrinsic value and for the access they provide to experience nature. In my current role, I manage operations that deploy tools helping organizations across the nation make informed forest management decisions.
